Several WIRELESS WEBCAM problems and inconsistencies
I have a Wireless G WVC54GC . I WIRED it and configured it for the wireless LAN as below. (1) I tried to upgrade the firmware. Manifestly the new version is 1.25, I have 1.19. I downloaded a fill in from linksys.com . It was a .bin file. I then attempted to upgrade the firmware- the camera said it was an Repudiated FILE. It also showed a diagram on where to find the variety #, but on the actual camera there IS no side number. (2) Tried to put together cam on the wireless LAN. First connected it WIRED and configured it. Everything seemed OK except oddly I could not coppers the wirelss CHANNEL from 6. It seemed LOCKED there, and it was not unstable. I'm using INFRASTRUCTURE MODE. I'm foolproof my security is correct. My LAN is on path 8. Its STRANGE the menu wont own me to set it to 8. I use MAC ADDRESS security- I addded the CAMERA MAC to the beadroll and saved it. When I UNPLUG power and the CAT5, and close up in power, the LED blinks for a LONG All together, then goes SOLID. According to the vade-mecum, this should indicate the CAM is online. But an IP scan on the router shows it's not there at all. I cant unite to it with the browser and it doesnt show up in the status point as a connection. (3) I went to ONLINE palaver, the guy (Anthony) answered a few routine questions, seeming to pore over from a script, then stopped responding at all). He seemed to lack to get into the DDNS config. I reasonable want the DEVICE to show up on the LAN! So far this has been a torture. I'm a networking/hardware expert. This is not working as the handbook suggests it should.
